Course Objectives:
The student through independent practical work master the methods of palaeontological research - the collection of fossil fauna of a certain group of animals and the laboratory methods of preparation of this kind of fossil material for palaeontological analysis.
Learning Outcomes:
Student acquires knowledge and skills in collecting, determining and describing a particular group of fossil organisms; their stratigraphic and palaeoecological characteristics and significance.
Content:

Theory teaching
Methods of collection and laboratory methods of preparation for palaeontological analysis of certain groups of fossil organisms that will be subject of graduation work, conservation of palaeontological material, biostratigraphic and palaeoecological characteristics of certain groups of fossil organisms. Particular importance is given to acquaintance with the morphological characteristics and terminology of a particular group of fossil animals.

Practical teaching
Independent work of the student in the laboratory on the preparation of fossil material of a certain group of fossil organisms for palaeontological analysis.

Conduct of the Course:
Introduction to theoretical foundations - morphological traits and terminology; differences between genera and species; palaeoecological and stratigraphic properties. Practical work of students and mentors in the laboratory, independent laboratory work of the student in consultation with the professor.
