Course Objectives: This class will cover the basic methods of paleontology, necessary for sampling, analysing and determination of fossil material. |
Learning Outcomes: Ability to determine and describe different fossils. |
Content:
Theory teaching The field work and collection of fossil materials; laboratory work and the methods of preparing the fossil material; identification and description of fossil remains: terminology, nomenclature, synonymy and references. Practical teaching The collection and laboratory preparing of fossil specimens (forams, radiolaria, conodonts, gastropods, bivalvia, brachiopods, amonites, graptolites, plants) from various sediments. Determination and description of collected materials. |
