Course Objectives: This class will cover the basic knowledge on general characteristics, as well as stratigraphic and paleogeographic distribution of the biostratigraphically important microfossils. |
Learning Outcomes: Ability to distingush important microfossils, particularly those crucial for biostratigraphical and paleoecological investigations, acording to their morphological features. |
Content:
Theory teaching The tasks of micropaleontology. The importance of the microfossils in biostratigraphy, paleoecology and paleogeography. A presentation of the various microfossil groups of zoological origin by discussing their morphology, taxonomy, mode of life, environments and stratigraphic distribution. Practical teaching Identification of microfossils from different unknown samples of sedimentary rocks. |
