Study program:
Petrology and Geochemistry (IX semester -MsC) |
Name of subject: Applied Petrography |
Instructors:
Prof. Vesna Matović |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: does not have |
Course Objectives: Acquiring knowledge about the physical and mechanical properties and stone durability and stone aggregates in building constructions. Introduction to the procedures of technical-technological processing and finishing of stone, and forms of stone use. Application of stone in civil engineering and architecture. |
Learning Outcomes: Training for the study of quality and assessment of the quality and durability of stone and stone aggregates. Acquiring knowledge necessary to define the possibility of applying rocks in civil engineering construction, for the production of binders, thermal insulation materials and applications in various industrial branches. |
Content:
Theory teaching Petrographic and physical-mechanical properties of stone; water absorption; thermal properties; durability of stone; Technical-technological properties of the stone (drilling, fissure, grinding ability, abrasion); Forms of stone application (broken, crushed, carved and industrial cut stone). Application of rocks in construction, architecture and various industrial branches. Practical teaching Exercises are followed by teaching units; interpretation of the results of laboratory testing of stone quality; practically defining the possibility of stone uses. |
