Course Objectives: Acquiring knowledge about basic properties of magma and igneous rocks, mode of occurrences, systematics, classification, nomenclature and petrography. |
Learning Outcomes: Qualifing a student for indipendant cabinate, laboratory and field investigations of igneous rocks, esspecially for making various reports, geological maps and profiles. |
Content:
Theory teaching Physical and chemical properties of magma, laws of crystallization, mineral composition, fabric (texture and structure), way of appearance of igneous rocks. Systematics, classification and nomenclature of igneous rocks: IUGS classification, TKPK-classification, Serian suggestion of classification. Appearance, mineral composition, alterations, order of crystallization, microtextures, varieties, genesis, mode of appearance and chemical composition of ultrabasic, basic, intermediate and acid igneous rocks. Practical teaching Practicing under the transmitted light microscope; following the methodological units of lectures. |
