Course Objectives: The goal of the course GEOLOGY OF THE WORLD is to enable the student to master modern knowledge on geological information, primarily the stratigraphy of our planet, through a series of classic examples of world geology and to contribute to the improvement of knowledge about the geological structure of Serbia. |
Learning Outcomes: Introducing students with the most important facts of the regional geology of our planet, its role and importance for acquainting the geological structure of a certain regions. Familiarizing with the latest methods used, as well as getting acquainted with their practical application in the interpretation of geological data. |
Content:
Theory teaching Theoretical teaching: The general geological structure of the planet. General characteristics of the geological structure of individual continents: Europe, North and South America, Asia, Australia and Antarctica. Stratigraphic characteristics and basic outlines of tectonics. Morphology, stratigraphic outline with basic lithostratigraphic units, tectonic characteristics of each individual continent. Synthetic geological coumns, tectonic reionization, geological evolution and economic significance of ore deposits Practical teaching Practical teaching: General characteristics of the geological structure of individual areas. Construction of maps, stratigraphic columns and geological profiles, both large entities and individual sites of interest. |
