Course Objectives: Introduction to fieldwork in geologically specific terrain, methods of mapping sedimentary, magmatic, metamorphic rocks and complex tectonic complexes, interpretation of geological maps of different scales and purposes. |
Learning Outcomes: Capability for geological mapping of tectonic complex terrain, methods of geological mapping of areas built of sedimentary, magmatic and metamorphic rocks, and the development of geological maps and geological plans for different purposes with accompanying textual-graphic explanations. |
Content:
Theory teaching Mapping of sedimentary rocks. Litho-facial and other special maps. Mapping of turbidites and flysch formations. Mapping mélanges and related formations. Mapping Quaternary deposits. Mapping the magmatic rocks. Mapping of volcanic rocks. Mapping of metamorphic rocks. Tectonic research during geological mapping. Creation of geological plans for different purposes. Digital acquisition systems. Geological map and databases. The geological map in GIS environment. Digital geological graphics. Practical teaching Analysis of complex geological maps. Analysis of tectonic complex terrain. Construction of structural maps and isoline maps. Paleotransport analysis. Creation of a geological column. Creation of complex geological maps for the terrain of different geological structures. Creating a complex geological map and accompanying explanatory booklets on the basis of documentation. Geological map, databases, and GIS, Creation of geological graphics in a different software environment. |
