Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to get to know with traditional methods for reconstruction of the geological history of sedimentary basins and their application in practice |

Content:
Theory teaching Introduction to Stratigraphy. Basic sedimentary processes. Sedimentary environments. Stratigraphic sequences and discontinuities. Stratigraphic units and maps. Formation, member, package, layer. Quantitative and qualitative stratigraphic analysis and interpretation of physical characteristics of rocks. Clastics and carbonate rocks. Stratigraphic correlation. Paleogeography. Fossil record and sequences. Interpretation of the deposit environment. Application in the prospecting of mineral raw materials. Practical teaching Homework, field exercises and demonstration classes. Visit to reference geological-geophysical institutions (NIS, Geomagnetic Institute, etc.). Independent research work. |
