Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge of a selected group of fossil organisms. Mastering in theoretical (literature) and analytical (microscopy) knowledge of the latest results and skills of determining the specific microfossils and nannofossils in order to determine biozones and markers for biostratigraphic, paleoecological and paleogeographic interpretation. |
Learning Outcomes: After completion of the course the student is able to independently identify and describe the different taxa of certain group. |
Content:
Theory teaching Micropaleontological research Mesozoic and Neogene sediments of Serbia and neighboring countries. Significant microfossils of the Mesozoic and Neogene sediments Serbia. Review of the morphology of their skeleton, evolutionary sequences and Biostratigraphic important species. Paleoecological relationships significant micro-communities in fossil marine ecosystems. Analysis microfacies. The level of exploration of certain groups of microfossils. Correlation of microfossil comunities of Serbia with already known respective association sites worldwide. Practical teaching Cabinet work on a particular fossil collection. |
