Study program:
Geology (II semester -PhD) |
Name of subject: Contact Metamorphism |
Instructors:
Prof. Danica Srećković - Batočanin |
Status: Optional |
ECTS: 10 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Upgrade of graduate knewledge of contact metamorphic rock forming processes and their relation to mineralization. |
Learning Outcomes: Abillity for: self-research within the area of magmatism – metamorphism, identification, classification and interpretation of the processes involved in occurrence/formation of a variety of contact metamorphic and ore deposit rocks. |
Content:
Theory teaching Introduction to contact metamorphism and types. Contact metamorphism of clastic sedimentary rocks. Contact metamorphism of basic magma rocks and their pyroclastics. Contact metamorphism of carbonates and marls. Pyrometamorphism. Phase equilibrium in CMS systems (H2O-CO2); CMAS (H2O-CO2), KCMAS (H2O-CO2), KFCMAS (H2O-CO2). The effect of CO2 on the stability of the minerals. Contact metamorphism and ore deposits. Contact metamorphic rocks of Serbia and other specific regions. Practical teaching Self study research work relevant to the selected chapter. Field and laboratory methods |
