Theory teaching Emphasis the characteristics of various constructions and different geotechnical investigations in relation with level of project design. Defining goals and purpose of investigations. Surface and subsurface investigation programs and laboratory test program for various objects: For building and bridges: stability of construction, bearing capacity, settlement, stability of excavation for foundation and its drainage, impacts of excavation on objects nearby. For highways and railways: embankments and excavations, stability of slopes in earth construction, drainage, deposit of geological building materials. For underground construction and tunnels: location, technology of excavation, stability of portal tunnel parts, impacts of tunneling on environment and other objects nearby, problems and measure of protection for underground water and harmful gases in underground. For dams and embankments: stability and bearing capacity of foundation, permeability and seepage under pressure, hydraulic conductivity of soils, stability of slopes of man-made lakes, conditions for embankments, conditions for excavations. impacts of dam on environment - on soil and underground water, induced seismicity, deposits of geological building materials. Practical teaching Preparation of Reports of geotechnical investigations for various objects (buildings, bridges, roads, railways, airports, tunnels, dams, embankments). |
