Course Objectives:
The coure will be focused on nature and genesis of global tectonic systems and their specific structural-formational contents, evolution of tectonic settings in the wider surroundings and influences of global tectonic processes on development of tectonic features in the area of Serbia. |
Learning Outcomes:
Students will acquire theoretical knowledge on global tectonic processes and their influence on the tectonic evolution of the European region. |
Content:
Theory teaching
European lithosphere: properties and kinematic and dynamic models. Modern tectonic processes in the environment. Geodynamics of the Mediterranean area. The role of subduction dynamics on the regional movements of the lithosphere segments. Subduction and basins development. Models of continental collision. Ophiolites and ophiolitic mélange - tectonic character. Tectonic control of magmatism and metamorphism. Continental rift systems: evolution, structures, tectonics. Exhumation processes and their significance in tectonic modeling. Practical teaching
Analysis of practical problems that correspond with the topic of a doctoral dissertation, discussion of the significance of data and incorporation of research results into tectonic models. |
