Course Objectives:
Practical fieldwork in geologically complex terrain and application of the methodology of geological mapping of sedimentary, magmatic, metamorphic rocks and tectonic complex complexes. |
Learning Outcomes:
Raising to a higher level of practical knowledge of importance for geological mapping of tectonic complex terrain and geological mapping of areas built of sedimentary, magmatic and metamorphic rocks. Ability to create geological maps and explanatory booklets. |
Content:
Theory teaching
Team geological mapping (about 50 km2) under the guidance of teachers. Practical training of students in field orientation. Observation and documentation of observations. Field Diary: content and way of displaying obscured data. Practical use of the field acquisition system. Documentation maps. Separation of mapped units of different rank. Creating a working version of the geological map. Creation of the final geological map for the polygon area. Construction of the accompanying geological graphic. Creating an explanatory booklet for the mapped polygon area. Creation of geological graphics: geological maps, columns, profiles, Legende and graphics contained in the explanatory booklet. Presentation of the geological map and explanatory booklet. Practical teaching
Practical work with geological compass, terrain orientation, practical application of geological mapping methods, description of geological phenomena, construction of geological graphics and writing of reports on the results of the exploration of the geological structure of the mapped area. |

Conduct of the Course:
Lectures followed by audio-visual presentations, presentations in field conditions and practical explanations of how to solve certain problems during cabinet work, consultation and discussion on practical problems of interpretation of the geological structure of the mapped area, discussion of the way of textual representation of the geological structure of the investigated polygon. |
