Study program:
Hidrogeology (IV semester -BsC) |
Name of subject: Hydraulics |
Instructors:
Prof. Dragoljub Bajić, Prof. Dušan Polomčić |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 6 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Introduction to basic concepts and parameters of groundwater static and kinematic. Mastering simple calculation methods for simplified groundwater flow schemes. Developing inductive thinking - when performing equations. Introduction to the process of the schematisation of the natural conditions - the formation of a calculation scheme. An engineering way of displaying and estimating calculation results. |
Learning Outcomes: Mastering the basics of hydraulics, mastering the process of carrying out and solving the equations of simplified flow schemes of groundwater. |
Content:
Theory teaching Hydrostatics (hydrostatic pressure, piesometric head, Archimedes law, Pascal’s law, Euler paradox, manometers). Kinematics (Bernoulli equation, hydraulic resistance, flow through pipes). Single channel flow (specific cross section energy, overflows). Hydralics of groundwater (Darsian law, model of continuum, flow net). Single flow (confined and unconfined aquifers). Uneven flow (Dipuy hypothesis, confined and unconfined aquifers). Infant flow with the involvement of infiltration. Practical teaching Exercises are followed by lectures. Practical tasks are performed that enable continuous monitoring of teaching units. It is planned to create homework tasks. |

Conduct of the Course: Within the curriculum (6 hours), first you will be checking the knowledge of the material from the previous lecture. Then follows the lecture of new material, as a combination of oral exposure and display on the board, with a projection of prepared images and examples. In the end, tasks are being worked out, the understanding of the lectures is conducted, and preparations are made to check the knowledge of the future. Pre-examination obligations end in time, except for the necessary learning outside the classroom. |
