Course Objectives:
Introduction to the basic principles of underground excavation of metallic, non-metallic and coal deposits. Mining method selection. Introduction to the basics of technology of underground excavation.
Learning Outcomes:
Recognition and selection of most common underground mining methods.
Content:

Theory teaching
Introduction. Principles of underground excavation. Technology of underground excavation. Ground control. Mine opening. Mining methods with self-carrying construction. Mining methods with backfilling. Caving mining methods. Methods of underground coal excavation. Methods of underground stone excavation.

Practical teaching
Decline design. Selection and design of mine opening. Selection and design of blasting pattern. Selection of underground mining method.
