Prerequisites: This course involves knowledge of the Basics of Geology, the Basis of Mining and Statistics.
Course Objectives:
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic methods of exploration the deposits and mineral resources, mining exploration works that are applied, as well as methods of estimating the investigated deposit.
Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding of the content offered by this course are essential for learning and understanding Methods and technologies for exploitation of mineral resource deposits and mine design.
Content:

Theory teaching
Introduction, Mineral Raw Materials. Deposits of mineral raw materials. Research goals and targets for solid mineral resources, Mineral resources and mineral reserves, Exploration of mineral deposits and raw materials. Prospecting. Previous exploration. Detailed exploration. Exploration research, Surface exploration works. Underground exploration. Investigation drilling, Mapping exploration works. GIS technology and its application in deposit research, Assessment of mineral deposit, Determination of mineral raw material quality (testing), Conventional methods for estimating mineral reserves. Parameters for estimating reserves, Ore estimation. Arithmetic mean method. Method of triangles and quadrangles, Parallel method method. Block method, Geostatistics estimation of mineral reserves. Basics of geostatistics approach, Variogram. One-dimensional variogram. Two-dimensional variogram. Three-dimensional variogram. Descriptive properties of the variogram. Quantification of the variogram. Conclusion based on variograms. Practical problems, Variances and covariates. Krig’s relationship. Variance calculation. Global estimates of ore reserves. Direct expansion in two and three dimensions. Independent extensions. Geometric error. Global estimation of reserves based on accumulation and thickness, Kriging. Factors that determine the weight of biting. Kriging in practice. Verification of the geostatistics by kriging.

Practical teaching
