Study program:
Mine Mechanization (VII semester -BsC) |
Name of subject: Mechanical Design |
Instructors:
Prof. Miloš Tanasijević, Prof. Filip Miletić |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: This subject represents a higher course in basic machine structures in which students should be trained in areas from Machine Elements: tolerances, fittings, dynamic strength, but also in areas such as: design methodology, phase in solution of design. In addition to theoretical, students need to acquire active knowledge through independent assignments which will help them solve engineering problems in the form of calculation tasks that are set as real problems in the domain of mining machinery. |
Learning Outcomes: Active knowledge in the subject area and improvement of the engineering way of thinking as well as the analytical and theoretical attitude in the design process and redesign of basic mechanisms on mining machines and devices; primarily from the aspect of their maintenance and exploitation. Students know in particular that they select and calculate tolerances, the principles of calculation in static and dynamic load, the principles of rational construction from the point of view of technology of production, methods of use, economic and environmental aspects. In particular, the accent is placed on the elements of the gear unit calculation, as one of the most common mining machines. |
Content:
Theory teaching Commonly principles of machines designing. influence on evaluation of constructions. Phases in process of designing. Demands and limits. Tolerances, Fits, Surface quality, shapes and positions. Tolerances of thread, gears and bearings. Standardizations, Types of products. Family of products. Modulate designing.
Designing and dimensions to construction, criteria (strength, Impact strength, fatigue of materials, rigidity, corrosion resistance, reliability ) Shrink fits, Press-fitted joints in the elastics and plastics area. Designing and production. Cast elements, forge elements, machined processed elements, welded elements. Forming with respect on assembling, service and maintenance. Materials for constructions. Light constructions. Gearbox on the mining machine. Lubrication, cooling, service. Planetary gear and their applications in the mining. Practical teaching At exercises, students have three calculation tasks: tolerance, fits, safety factor and one project task (gear - box). The project includes a calculation and the drawing. Instructions for use and maintenance of the gear box. At the exercises students visit the laboratory. |

Conduct of the Course: Theoretical teaching takes place in the form of classical lectures with multimedia support. Practical classes take place in the form of elaboration and defense of seminar assignments that enable students to practice self-solving problems related to machine design, to demonstrate the extent to which they have mastered basic knowledge of machine elements, statics, strength of material, material technology and technical drawing. |
