Course Objectives:
Introduction to hazards related to operation and maintenance of mining machines as well as the principles of protection on machines and devices in mining and industry.
Learning Outcomes:
Acquisition of necessary theoretical and active practical knowledge necessary for safe planning of work and use of mechanization.
Content:

Theory teaching
Introduction to the course. Basic principles of protection, Definitions and criteria for risk identification, Analysis and risk control, Criteria for risk analysis of machines and equipment. Typical production risks, the most common risks in mining and industry, Principles of protection, life cycle of machines, Basic hazards in mining. Basic regulations and standards of protection at work on machines and devices, Control of machines and devices. Risks and most common accidents in the operation of digging and loading machinery, (movable parts, mechanisms, platforms, power cables, cranes, commissioning, occupational safety measures, transportation, maintenance, etc.). Risks and most common accidents in the operation of transport machines - transport of belts (movable parts, rollers, drums, mechanisms, platforms, powering, tightening, starting and stopping the conveyors, moving, maintenance, etc.). Risks and most common accidents in the operation of transport machines - transport of trucks, (moving parts, engines, platforms, putting into operation, loading, unloading, maintenance, etc.). Risks and most common accidents in the operation of load lifting machines (movable parts, mechanisms, platforms, hooks, signalling, commissioning, measurements at work, transport, maintenance, etc. Risks and most common accidents in the operation of transport machines - rail transport, (moving parts, rollers, drums, mechanisms, platforms, powering, tightening, starting and stopping the transporter, moving, maintaining etc.). Risks and most common accidents in the operation of earth moving machinery (moving parts, mechanisms, platfo, power cables, cranes, commissioning, occupational safety measures, transportation, maintenance, etc.). Risks and most common accidents when working with pressure machines. Risks and most common accidents in the operation of machines for underground exploitation and underground construction. Risks and the most common accidents in the operation of machines in processing, (moving parts, mechanisms, platforms, power cables, cranes, commissioning, occupational safety measures, transport, maintenance, etc.).

Practical teaching
At the exercises, students will take two colloquiums through tests. Colloquia will process logical units. In the remaining classes of the exercises, a risk analysis will be carried out and examples related to the protection of machines will be made.
