Course Objectives:
Acquiring knowledge in the construction of underground facilities using drilling and blasting operations. Getting acquainted with the equipment for producing boreholes and performing blasting operations during excavating the rock mass in various methods of underground facilities construction. |
Learning Outcomes:
Training of students for solving the problems caused by performance of blasting operations in the construction of underground facilities. |
Content:
Theory teaching
The course content is divided into three parts: general part, construction of boreholes and blasting works in the construction of underground facilities.The general part deals with the historical development of the construction of underground facilities, the types and definitions of the facilities. In the part that deals with the production of boreholes the following is provided: methods and theoretical principles of producing boreholes, tools and equipment for drilling. Mechanism and theoretical principles of destruction of rocks by drilling. The part that deals with the blasting works provides the methods of calculation of blasting parameters during blasting with one or more free surfaces (number of boreholes, calculation of the specific consumption of explosives, selecting the type of cut, selecting the optimum type of explosive, calculation of the optimum number of deceleration interval, and similar). The significance of contour mining in the construction of facilities is especially emphasized. Factors that influence the effect of contour blasting. Analysis of blasting method. Calculation of contour blasting parameters. Influence of blasting on mining and construction objects on the surface. Measures of protection when performing drilling and blasting operations.
