Study program:
Mine Surveying (VIII semester -BsC) Underground Construction (VIII semester -BsC) |
Name of subject: Construction of Tunnels and Chambers |
Instructors:
Prof. Suzana Lutovac, Prof. Rade Tokalić, Dr Luka Crnogorac, Dr Miloš Gligorić |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: Methods of construction of underground facilities. |
Course Objectives: Acquiring knowledge in the exploration of rocks for the needs of the location and working operations during excavation of underground facilities. Getting acquainted with the methods of tunnel construction and the method of supporting and protecting the facilities. |
Learning Outcomes: Ability to design and perform works on the construction of underground facilities in all working conditions. |
Content:
Theory teaching The course content is divided into three parts: general part, dimensioning of tunnels and chambers, and methods of construction. The general part deals with the historical development of the construction of underground facilities, types and definitions of the facilities. In the part dealing with dimensioning, the tunnel route, location, excavation profile and clearance are given. Then the calculation of support structure, load of support structure, and similar are processed. In the part that deals with methods of construction, excavation methods with the help of explosives and combined machines are provided. The methods are processed and appropriate calculations are given in view of use of explosives for destruction of the rock mass. In the method of construction using machines, the requirements should be defined for the following: selection of type of machine, impact of the working environment, speed of construction, economic conditions, and similar. Practical teaching Defining the alignment and basic elements in the construction of the tunnel; Dimensioning and technology of construction of a mountain railway tunnel - calculation of the supporting structure - graphic procedure; Definition and technology of construction of a road tunnel - calculation of the supporting structure - calculation procedure; Selection of the method of construction; Calculation of drilling and blasting operations. Field work: Visiting active construction sites, as well as built structures and facilities. |
