Course Objectives:
Introducing students with technical and technological principles of conventional and non-conventional methods of exploitation of mineral raw materials through boreholes, dredging of mineral deposits and exploitation of dimension stone.
Learning Outcomes:
Mastering professional knowledge on the technique and technology of exploitation of mineral raw materials through boreholes, on technological procedures and dredging systems for mineral deposits and technique and technology for exploitation of dimension stone blocks.
Content:

Theory teaching
1. General aspects of the use of boreholes for the exploitation of mineral raw materials and characteristics of the mineral deposits in the function of borehole technology. 2. Exploitation of solid mineral raw materials through boreholes, (Theoretical settings of the process of borehole hydro exploitation, Determination of technical and technological parameters, Technological schemes, Hydromonitors and dynamic operation of the water jet, Technical factors of rock breakage, predictive modeling of settlement and deformation. 3. Exploitation of loose mineral raw materials through boreholes. 4. Chemical and biological methods of excavating mineral deposits through boreholes. 5. Underground gasification of coal through boreholes. CO2 extraction. 6. Fundamentals of dredging (significance and perspectives of the development of dredging, application requirements, materials and operating parameters).7. Techniques and technologies of dredging.8. Equipment for preparatory work (operating parameters, work technology and capacity). Mechanical dredging (operating parameters, work technology and capacity). Bucket ladder dredgers. Grab dredger. Dipper dredger. Hydraulic dredger (operating parameters, work technology and capacity). Suction dredgers. Plain suction dredgers. Cutter suction dredgers. Trailing suction hopper dredger. 9. Hydraulic transport (classification and application, physical properties of hydro mesh, calculation of hydraulic transport). 10. Dredging systems (preparation, opening, development, closing and protection of the environment). 11. Dimension stone classification. Evaluation of dimension stone. Forms of stone use. Industrial stone processing. Preparation and processing of stone blocks into slabs. Machines for primary cutting of stone blocks. Secondary cutting of stone slabs into tiles. Machines for tertiary processing of stone. Dimension stone processing lines. Surface processing of stone in processing lines. 12. Surface exploitation of dimension stone. Technology of extraction of dimension stone blocks on surface mines. Technology of wire saw cutting machine at work. Technology of chain saw cutting machine at work. Technology and belt saw cutting machine at work. Slot drilling by a line drilling rig. Technology of stone splitting by the stone splitter, hydraulic rock splitters, contour blasting and by expansive agents. 13. Overturning of released primary blocks. Equipment for pushing and overturning of primary blocks. Squaring of large primary blocks into blocks of commercial size. Commercial blocks loading and equipment. Truck haulage of commercial blocks. 14. Underground exploitation of dimension stone blocks. Technology of underground extraction of dimension stone blocks. Main and auxiliary equipment. 15. Water supplying the cutting machine in the extraction of dimension stone blocks. Water infrastructure. The positions of water nozzles in cutting with different type of cutting machines.Environmental impacts from the extraction of dimension stone. Technical mitigation measures. Reclamation in dimension stone mining.

Conduct of the Course:
