Selected Topics in the Production and Transportation of Oil and Gas

Study program:
Petroleum Engineering (X semester -MsC)
Name of subject: Selected Topics in the Production and Transportation of Oil and Gas
Instructors:
Prof. Dušan Danilović
Status: Compulsory
ECTS: 6
Prerequisites: Basic academic studies completed.
Course Objectives:
The aim of the course is to expand the acquired knowledge from mechanical methods of exploitation and transportation of oil and gas. Particular attention has been directed to the system of analyzing and optimizing the process of operation of the mentioned mechanical methods, which is of particular importance in terms of economy of operation and energy efficiency. Students will be introduced to the method of decline analysis and the possibilities of its application. It will also get acquainted with all the details of designing a system for the transport of paraffin oil, including the determination of flow limiting conditions.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, students are fully trained for: independent design and optimization of mechanical methods for the production of oil and gas; analysis of the work of the well with the application of the decline analysis and design of the system for the transport of paraffin oil.
Content:

Theory teaching
Optimizing the work of the gas lift. Optimal amount of gas for injection. The optimal amount of gas that is i injected for each well. Optimum minimum gradient pressure. Optimal gas lift valve diameter. Optimal production of depth pump on sucker rods. Harmonization of fluid flow characteristics in the well with production. Analysis of the conditions for the flow of paraffin oil. Boundary flow conditions. Transportation of highly paraffinic oil. Non-isothermal flow. Dimensioning of the system for the transport of paraffin oil. Dimensioning of the heating system continuous). Dimensioning the system for add additive.

Practical teaching
Numerical determination of the optimal amount of gas for injecting. Determination of the optimal amount of gas for each well. Determination of optimal minimum pressure gradient. Selecting the optimal diameter of the valve gas lift. Determination of optimum production of the depth pump on sucker rods. Harmonization of the fluid flow characteristics in the well with production. Analysis of the conditions for the flow of paraffin oil. Determination of flow limiting conditions. Transportation of highly paraffin oil. Non-isothermal flow. Dimensioning of the system for the transport of paraffin oil. Dimensioning of the heating system. Dimensioning the system for add additive.
