Study program:
Petroleum Engineering (IX semester -MsC) |
Name of subject: Enhanced Oil Recovery Methods |
Instructors:
Prof. Vesna Karović-Maričić, Lola Tomić |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 6 |
Prerequisites: BS degree |
Course Objectives: The objective of the course is to introduce students to the modern concept of applying the methods for enhancing recovery of oil reservoirs - "EOR" methods (thermal, chemical and methods of injection of gases under conditions of mixing and non-mixing). By studying a number of practical examples, students are trained to understand the principles and importance of applying methods for increasing the recovery of oil reservoirs, that will enable them to solve the problems of managing EOR projects in practice. |
Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, the student can analyze and define: the criteria for the application of the "EOR" method (thermal, chemical and methods of injection of gases in conditions of mixing and non-mixing) and the selection of candidate reservoir for method application, necessary parameters for the application of a particular "EOR" method, increase of recovery of oil reservoir by applying certain "EOR" methods and the process of managing a certain "EOR" project. |
Content:
Theory teaching Classification and application of methods for enhancing the recovery of oil reservoirs in the world. Criteria for the application of the "EOR" method and selection of candidate reservoirs for its application. Thermal methods- - continuous and cyclic steam injection. Calculation of parameters of the design of the method of steam injection. Defining the parameters of the process of in situ combustion. Chemical methods - injection of polymers, alkali, polymers and mi cellar solutions. Injection of gases under conditions of mixing and non-mixing. Injection of carbon dioxide. Calculation of the parameters for designing the process of carbon dioxide injection . Injection of liquid petroleum gas. Injection of enriched gas and inert gases. Managing the "EOR" project. Practical teaching Calculation of mathematical examples, solving problems and multimedia presentation of seminar papers on case studies |
