Content:
Theory teaching The course content is divided into three parts: general part, drilling operations and blasting operations. The general part deals with the historical development of drilling and blasting operations, the working environment and the utilities necessary for the production of boreholes. In the part drilling operations, drilling processes, mechanisms and theoretical principles of rock destruction are given, then the important factors affecting the speed of drilling, tools and accessories for the production of boreholes, as well as the measures of protection during the construction of boreholes. In the part blasting operations, divisions and definitions of economic explosives are given, means and methods of initiating charges, as well as methods for testing explosives and ignition devices. Further, the theory of detonation, the factors that influence the rate of detonation, the mechanism of destruction of the walls, the construction and the production of the electric primers, and the methods for filling boreholes with explosives are discussed. Also, procedures and calculations for the determination of the optimum type of explosive and deceleration interval are given, as well as calculation of the specific consumption of explosives. Practical teaching Utilities. Getting to know the borehole equipment. Calculation of the basic influence factors on drilling speed. Getting acquainted with means for blasting. Calculation of the optimum type of explosive and deceleration interval. Calculation of specific consumption of explosives. Practical work with tools for drilling and blasting at the university mine in Avala. Field exercises. Visiting underground and open-pit mines. |
