Study program:
Economic Geology (VIII semester -MsC) Geology of oil and gas (VIII semester -MsC) Geophysics (VI semester -BsC) Hidrogeology (VI semester -BsC) Petroleum Engineering (VI semester -BsC) |
Name of subject: Fundamentals of Geophysical Well Logging |
Instructors:
Prof. Ivana Vasiljević, Branislav Sretković |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: none |
Course Objectives: The objective of the course is to educate students about the fundamental principles and basic procedures in geophysical well logging investigations. The educational goal of the course is that students learn about concepts of geophysical well logging measurements, as well as how to apply obtained results in various areas of investigation (petroleum and natural gas, mineral ore deposits, hydrogeology, geothermal energy). |
Learning Outcomes: Learning outcomes include acquiring the fundamental knowledge and competencies necessary for further training and the work in the specialized well logging crews and for the application of processed geophysical well logging data in various areas of investigation. |
Content:
Theory teaching Fundamental principals of geophysical well logging. Types of boreholes and mud invasion. Operation principals, tool construction and conduction of measurements. Spontaneous Potential logs. Resistivity logs. Laterolog tools. Induction tools. Gamma-ray logs. Density log. Neutron log. Acoustic logs. Temperature logging. Dipmeter tools. Caliper and Inclinometer tools. Application of the geophysical well logging and tool combinations. Examples of logs. Practical teaching Construction of the synthetic geophysical well logging diagrams based on assigned petrophysical and geophysical data. Fundamental qualitative and quantitative interpretation of well logging diagrams. Analysis of the well logging data using field examples. Calculating tasks. |
