Study program:
Minerology and Crystallography (IX semester -MsC) |
Name of subject: Phase Transformations of Crystals |
Instructors:
Prof. Aleksandar Kremenović |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Different types of phase transitions in crystals as well as thermodynamics and kinetics of these processes are studied. Different types of defects in crystals that occur in the process of phase transitions are subject of investigation. |
Learning Outcomes: After passing a course, students should be familiar with theoretical basis in the field of phase transitions of crystals. |
Content:
Theory teaching Phase transitions in crystals. Polymorphism. Phase transitions with ordering degree change. Phase transitions with exsolution. Basis of phase transition thermodynamic. Phase transition mechanisms. Phase transition kinetics. Disorders in crystals. Static and dynamic disorder in crystal structures. Deformation due to atomic planes gliding. Practical teaching Practical exercises are closely connected to lectures. One seminar work is planed to be realized. |
