Study program: Minerology and Crystallography (VIII semester -MsC) |
||||||||||||
Name of subject: Crystal Chemistry | ||||||||||||
Instructors: Dr Predrag Dabić |
||||||||||||
Status: Compulsory | ||||||||||||
ECTS: 5 | ||||||||||||
Prerequisites: - | ||||||||||||
Course Objectives: The objective of the course is that students acquire basic crystallochemical education in terms of internal symmetry and chemical composition of minerals, which is a consequence of the periodic arrangement of the atoms in the crystal lattice i.e., three-dimensional periodicity of crystalline substances. |
||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes: During this course, students will learn: laws of crystal chemistry • Pauling rules • polymorphism • isomorphism • coordination number of atoms and ions • types of close packing of spheres • basic types of structures: metals, alloys, ionic crystals, oxides, sulfides, carbonates, sulphates, phosphates and silicates |
