Study program:
Minerology and Crystallography (VII semester -MsC) |
Name of subject: Systematics of Non-Silicates |
Instructors:
Prof. Aleksandar Pačevski |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Introduction to students with the way of occurrence, characteristics, chemistry, the way of crystallization and associations in which non-silicate minerals are most commonly occurring, which build a variety of ores, rocks, or of ore minerals. |
Learning Outcomes: Obtaining the necessary knowledge about the characteristics of ore minerals and the way for their macroscopic determination. |
Content:
Theory teaching Introduction. Becoming a minerals. Classification of non-silicates minerals. Definition of association and paragenesis. Methods of testing of certain physical properties of minerals. Native minerals. Telurides and selenides. Sulfides. Sulfosalts. Halogenides. Oxides (simple and complex). Niobate and tantalates. Hydroxides. Borates. Phosphates. Arsenates. Vanadates. Carbonates. Sulphates. Tungstenates. Molybdates. Practical teaching Processing and testing of minerals belonging to these groups is envisaged, using the existing collections of minerals and walls, as well as samples collected during field studies. |
