Study program:
Economic Geology (X semester -MsC) |
Name of subject: Field Course/Work: Prospecting, Exploration of Mineral Deposits and Ore Geology |
Instructors:
Prof. Vladimir Simić |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 6 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: Field practice is an inevitable and very important part of teaching at the Department of Economic Geology. One-day field lessons are favoured in the surroundings of Belgrade, but with multiple aspects of learning. Of particular importance is fieldwork that is carried out at the end of the school year at mines and deposits. The aim of the professional practice is to acquire practical skills for field work, as well as supplement the theoretical knowledge acquired during lectures and exercises. |
Learning Outcomes: The expected outcomes are the training of students for independent fieldwork, as well as the complex realisation of professional problems (theoretical basis, cabinet and field work). |
Content:
Theory teaching None Practical teaching Field teaching practice comprises theoretical introduction.
Because field teaching practice includes multiple study subjects, first part will apply to metallic mineral deposits, second part to non-metallic mineral deposits and third part to coal deposits. It starts with informing students with specific mineral deposit and general geological and metallogenic characteristics of surrounding area. Practical teaching comprises guided independent field work. Practicing methods will be geological mapping and documenting of ore outcrops, samples collection and their preliminary processing, fieldwork research report writing. Optionally laboratory work will be realized. At the end of field work students are required to verify their field notebook and fieldwork research report. |
