Course Objectives: The objective of the course is to educate students about the procedures of the complete gravity survey in different areas of gravity data application, all the way from the gravity survey planning to the interpretation and presentation of the results. |
Learning Outcomes: Learning outcomes include acquiring the knowledge and proficiency necessary for the application of the gravimetric survey methods in different research areas, all the way from the project planning to the interpretation and presentation of the results. |
Content:
Theory teaching Theory of the gravity field. Force of gravity. Potential of the gravity force and its implications. Derivates of the gravity force potential. Gravity force potential of the sphere and the spherical layer. The gravity field of the homogenous sphere. Earth's gravity field. Potential of the Earth's gravitation. Geoid equation. Geoid gravity. Theoretical gravity. Derivations of the theoretical gravity. Contemporary procedures for the calculation of gravity anomalies. Types of gravity investigations and anomalies. Gravity databases. Quality analysis of gravity data and potentiality of their application for solving specific problems. Gravity modeling and inversion. Applications of the gravimetric investigation's results. Application of density functions in gravity modeling and inversion. Gravity data interpretation. Gravity anomalies in Serbia. Earth's interior and crust studies using gravity data. Theory of isostasy. Practical teaching Solving calculating tasks, theoretical and practical problems. Gravity data processing. Compilation and interpretation of the gravity maps. Writing a seminar paper on the assigned topic. |

Conduct of the Course: Computer presentations are used during the lectures and exercises. Presentations are available to students in order to make the learning process easier. Exercises are practical and they are following the content of lectures in order to enable a better understanding of the subject. The knowledge is also acquired through the writing of the seminar paper. |
