Study program:
Geophysics (V semester -BsC) |
Name of subject: Fundamentals of Electromerty |
Instructors:
Prof. Vesna Cvetkov, Branislav Sretković |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: - |
Course Objectives: The course goal is to establish basic knowledge in the field of Applied Geophysics in particular in electrical methods of investigations, namely:
Apparent resistivity method,
Spontaneous potential method,
Equipotential method,
Potential drop ratio method,
“Mise a la masse” method (Buried electrode method),
Induced Polarization method. |
Learning Outcomes: Teaching process is intended to achieve fundamental knowledge necessary for further improvement regarding designing of measurements, acquisition and processing of electrical methods data as well as of its qualitative and quantitative interpretation. |
Content:
Theory teaching Classification of electrical methods of investigation, electrical properties of minerals, rocks and formations,
the origin and nature of Spontaneous Potential (self-potential),
electrical conductivity mechanisms,
electrical potential distribution in homogenous and isotropic space and half-space,
electrical potential distribution over horizontally and vertically layered half-space,
electrical distribution over homogenous anisotropic half-space,
concept and definition of apparent resistivity, electrode arrays,
noise and signal to noise ratio in electrical measurements.
The origin and nature of time domain Induced Polarization and parameters derived by induced polarization (chargeability, metal factor…). Practical teaching Field data acquisition and procedures of field data measurements,
construction of field data diagrams, cross-sections and maps based on parameters of
Self Potential method,
Induced Polarization method,
Potential Drop Ratio method,
Equipotential lines method,
