Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to introduce methods of landscape analysis and teach students how to use these methods in investigations of landscape for research and practical purposes. |
Learning Outcomes: Capability to implement obtained knowledge in interpretations of neotectonic evolution of regions and representations of geomorphological processes evolution. |
Content:
Theory teaching The definition of geomorphological analysis, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, complex analysis. Methods of geomorphological analysis. Office and field studies. Quantitative landscape investigations. Energy of relief analysis. Hill-slope analysis. Hydraulic gradients. Comparison of real and theoretical models of landscape evolution, linear models, planar models. Quantitative landscape analysis using digital images. Representation of data obtained by geomorphological analysis - geomorphological map. Contents of geomorphological map: geological setting. Morphogenetic data. Morphographic data. Morphometric data. Morphochronologic data. Legend and booklet of geomorphological map. Applications of geomorphologic map. Practical teaching Investigations of specific areas: complex geomorphological analysis, quantitative and qualitative landscape investigations. production of final paper including various maps. Public presentation. |
