Course Objectives: The goals of course are training of students on basic principles of engineering geology, getting knowledge about fundamentals of engineering geological investigation and their application in civil engineering, introduction to engineering geodynamics |
Learning Outcomes: Training of students for engineering approach to engineering geological conditions assessment for design and construction works; application of engineering geological investigations and methods, and evaluation of geodynamic processes and forms in the area of interest |
Content:
Theory teaching Introduction on engineering geology, basic definition and relationship with other discipline in geological and non-geological sciences. Engineering geological types of materials and basic properties (petrological, physical, structural, etc.), mechanical and technological properties; environmental and natural conditions and properties of terrain; Engineering geodynamics - processes and forms; Fundamentals of engineering geological investigation (field and cabinet); Engineering geology in civil engineering; Engineering geology for land use planning. Case studies. Practical teaching Practical students exercises in accordance to the course programme in form of students independent report |
