Course Objectives: Introduction of basic principles of electrostatics and electromagnetics, the principle of operation of direct current and alternating current electric machines, energy supply of mining power plants and failures diagnostics on electrical cables. |
Learning Outcomes: Acquiring basic knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and measuring technique. |
Content:
Theory teaching Electrostatics and electrokinetics – introduction and fundamental concepts. The basic technique used for solving DC circuits; Basics of electromagnetism; Operating principle of DC and AC machines. Basics measurement techniques; Analog and digital measuring instruments; Measurement of electrical quantities; Mining power supply; Power cable fault location and testing. Practical teaching Practical exercises in the field of: electrostatics, electrokinetics, DC electric circuits, electromagnetism and AC electric circuits. Simulation of DC and AC circuits with the appropriate simulation computer programs and using simulated instruments to make circuit measurement. |

Conduct of the Course: Theoretical and practical exercises are performed in the classroom. The appropriate simulations done for this subject are presented. Measurement simulations are performed in a computer classroom using appropriate electrical circuit simulation software. |
