Energy System Modelling

Study program:
Mining Engineering (IV semester -PhD)
Name of subject: Energy System Modelling
Instructors:
Prof. Dejan Ivezić, Prof. Marija Živković
Status: Optional
ECTS: 10
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
Analysis of different systems of production, transformation and energy usage considering technical, environmental, legal and social aspects.Identification of key inter-dependencies of energy and economic/social development of various energy entities. Application of energy planning and modeling tools.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, a student can analyze and compare different segments of the energy system, create an energy model of a selected area or consumer, develop different scenarios and analyze the results by multiple criteria, as well as to determine and predict values of energy and environmental indicators.
Content:

Theory teaching
Energy facilities. Energy supply systems.Harmonizing different energy supply systems. Determination of consumption. The need for energy planning. Bottom up, top down approaches. Reference state. Demography. Economy by branch.Energy balances. Scenario development and selection. Demographic scenarios, macro economic scenarios. Energy efficiency measure. Final energy consumption scenarios. Scenarios of energy transformation. Primary energy consumption scenarios. Scenario analyses and assessment based on selected criteria. Energy indicators.

Practical teaching
Development of energy model for a specified area or a company by LEAP tool. Determination of main drivers. Development of different scenarios. Interpretation of results. Students will write essays to further elaborate and analyse problems.

Suggested Reading List:
