Course Objectives:
Acquisition of practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of recultivation and remediation of open pit mines and dumps-landfills. |
Learning Outcomes:
The course enables students to understand the content of the recultivation of open pit mines and the role of recultivation, development and management of projects, programs and development policies, according to national and EU regulations and standards. During the course, the student is expected to gain sufficient understanding of methodology, legal requirements, selection of technology in the field of recultivation of open pit mines. Gaining expert knowledge about the recultivation of open pit mines and dumps-landfills. |
Content:
Theory teaching
Bases of recultivation; The impact of surface mining (exploitation) on the environment; Technique and technology of technical and biological recultivation; Protection and usage of land resources in surface mining (exploitation); Formation of the dump-landfill area; Technology of exploitation of the fertile layer of overburden; Exploitation of potentially fertile material; Selection of recultivation technology; Dynamics of surface mining (exploitation) of deposits by stages with temporary conservation of parts of working zones; Hydro-storage facilities; Surface mining (exploitation) as an engineering-ecological system. Practical teaching
Legislation (regulations and standards) related to the reclamation (recultivation) of open-pit mines and dumps-landfills. Methods of recycling technology selection. Creation of a recultivation project on the example of a mine with surface exploitation. |
