Petroleum Reservoir Management

Study program:
Petroleum Engineering (VIII semester -BsC)
Name of subject: Petroleum Reservoir Management
Instructors:
Prof. Vesna Karović-Maričić, Lola Tomić
Status: Compulsory
ECTS: 5
Prerequisites: enrolled in 4.year od study
Course Objectives:
The objective of the course is to introduce modern concept to the students of managing the process of development and production of oil and gas reservoirs, with basic and specific characteristics of management issues and detailed study of all elements and approach to the reservoir management process applied in the world and in our country. By studying numerous practical examples, students are enabled to understand the comprehensiveness and importance of integrated management of reservoirs from the technical, technological, economic and environmental aspects that will enable them to solve real problems of managing oil and gas reservoirs in practice.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, the student can understand, analyze and define: objectives, planning, implementation and assessment of the oil and gas reservoir management process. Students are trained to analyze and define the basic elements of the oil and gas deposit management plan: the strategy of development and exploitation; hydrocarbon fluid reservoir data, integrated reservoir modeling, reserve estimates, production forecast, optimal equipment choice, economic evaluation of investment projects in the process of management of petroleum reservoirs and risk analysis.
Content:

Theory teaching
History of reservoir management development process.Classification and characteristics of different approaches to the oil and gas reservoir management. The basic preconditions for the successful realization of the reservoir management. Elements of the process of reservoir management. An analysis of a comprehensive fluid management model and the possibilities for its application.Organization and structure of multidisciplinary teams within the framework of reservoir management. Planning the process of managing the development and exploitation of oil and gas reservoirs. Selection of the management strategy. Collection and analysis of reservoir data.. Definition of integrated geological and engineering reservoir production model. Classification and estimation of petroleum resources and reserves. Methods for forecasting the future production dynamics. Methods of economic evaluation of oil and gas exploitation projects and application of risk analysis.
