Study program:
Petroleum Engineering (VI semester -BsC) |
Name of subject: Drilling Technology 2 |
Instructors:
Prof. Miroslav Crnogorac |
Status: Compulsory |
ECTS: 5 |
Prerequisites: Passed the exam "Drilling Technology 1". |
Course Objectives: Course aims is the acquisition of professional competencies in the design and drilling of directional and horizontal oil and gas wells, and also competence in higher vocational education. |
Learning Outcomes: After completing the course, students should know the structure of the process of planning and drilling of directional and horizontal wells, and technical conditions for prevention and instrumentation of stuck tools and accidents. |
Content:
Theory teaching In this course study the technology of directional wells. It also discusses the difficulties that may arise in the process of drilling with an analysis of their development and methods for solving. Drilling and design of directional and horizontal wells as well as mathematical models of types of their trajectory. Wellbore surveying with a special emphasis on the measurement while drilling "MWD" in the horizontal wells. Occurrence of technical problems caused by the characteristics of the formations. Analysis of the causes of wellbore collapse, drilling fluid losses, fluid inflow and pipe sticking and consequences. Methods for prevention of these difficulties as well as methods for the recovery of the resulting problems, with selection of appropriate tools. Practical teaching Designing well trajectory of directional and horizontal wells as well as the selection of the casing program. Procedures for preventing loss of drilling fluids in permeable formations. Procedures to prevent the inflow of formation fluids. Determination of the stuck point and process of retrieving a stuck pipe also selecting appropriate tools for instrumentation. |
