Course Objectives: Acquiring theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of environmental impact assessment of industrial facilities and technological processes. Acquired knowledge enables understanding of processes, basic principles and concepts as well as methods and techniques used in the phases of the environmental impact assessment process. |

Learning Outcomes: The course enables students to understand the scope and content of the impact assessment and the role of impact assessment in planning, developing and managing projects, programs and development policies according to national and EU regulations. During the course, students are expected to gain sufficient understanding of methodology, legal requirements and impact assessment policies. This implies the ability to develop an impact assessment study and to organize the process of public participation in the impact assessment. As a result of the course, students will develop appropriate competencies for work in public agencies, the private sector and civil society organizations. Students will learn: (a) objectives of the environmental impact assessment; (b) the basic elements of the impact assessment; (c) legal requirements; (d) practical technical and socio-political constraints on the implementation of the impact assessment. |
