Surface subsidence and Protection of Objects

Study program:
Mine Surveying (IX semester -MsC)
Underground Construction (IX semester -MsC)
Underground Mining of Mineral Deposits (IX semester -MsC)
Name of subject: Surface subsidence and Protection of Objects
Instructors:
Prof. Aleksandar Milutinović
Status: Optional
ECTS: 6
Prerequisites: none
Course Objectives:
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the problems of shifting the underground terrain and protecting objects above underground mining works, getting to know the deformations that occur on the surface and on objects above mining works and the way of constructing protective pillars for natural and technical objects on the surface of the underground terrain with the methods of forecasting calculation of shuffling and deformation, on the surface of the underground terrain, when excavating the horizontal and inclined layer.
Learning Outcomes:
Independent design of the observation of the shifting of the underground terrain, performing the necessary field measurements in order to monitor the movement and to process the results of the performed measurements.
Content:

Theory teaching
Initial consideration. Terms, definitions, symbols. Parameters and curved deformation of the terrain surface. Digging as a cause of shifting the underground terrain. View the moving process in the massif. Observation of the shifting of the underground terrain. Theories and methods for the forecasting process of the shift process. Stochastic methods of calculation. Forecast values for mines with an unexpected process of shifting. The solidity coefficient of the roof massif. Maximum displacement and deformation parameters: absolute maximum shuffle, maximum horizontal shift. Corner parameters: empirical patterns for determining the angle of maximum intensity and boundary angles. Protective poles. Protection criteria, permissible deformations for certain categories of objects. Construction of protective poles: for building, window and traffic. Excavation of protective poles. Damage to objects and compensation of owners. Specificity of moving underground terrain in metal and non-metal mines. Movements in the excavation of blind ore bodies.

Practical teaching
Presentation of the problem of shifting the underground terrain through historical development, deformations on the surface of the underground terrain, excavation of protective poles, observation of the shifting of the underground terrain, protection of buildings, compensation of damages to the owners of the damaged facilities. Designing a network for observing the shifting of the underground terrain. Processing of measurement data. Calculation of the maximum values of the parameters of displacement and deformation on the surface of the underground terrain, when excavating the horizontal layer with the decay of the roof. Calculating the absolute maximum force, the boundary angles, and the angle of maximum perforation. Calculation of the value of shuffling at arbitrary points of the surface of the underground terrain at the excavation of the horizontal layer, using the stochastic method of calculation and integral networks. Construction of the protective pillar for the window, for the building, for the road.
