Name of subject: Discrete models of rock mass |
Instructors:
|
Status: - |
ECTS: |
Prerequisites: Bachelor and Master degrees. |
Course Objectives: Purpose of the subject is to tech students when is it acceptable to model rock mass as continuum, and when it is necessary to model it as discrete medium regarding the accuracy of the outcome. |
Learning Outcomes: Students should be able to use and apply some of the methods used for discrete modelling of rock mass. |
Content:
Theory teaching Analysis of the rock mass - underground opening system. Relation between the size of primary blocks and size of the underground opening. Discrete Element Method (DEM). Distinct Element Method (UDEC, 3DEC, DDA). Practical teaching Written report that follows the theoretical part of the course. |
