Geotechnics - master academic studies
Conditions for enrolment: Achieved 240 ECTS points at basic academic studies
Study programme objectives:
- Educating of the engineers with master degree in geotechnics for continuous participation during the entire process of planning, designing (in all stages), construction, exploitation and maintenance of facilities;
- Transferring of scientific and professional knowledge and opening possibilities for enrolment in doctoral academic studies;
- Continuous development of geotechnical profession and science, and providing of an updated study programme;
- Harmonising of the evaluation system with the EU countries, and possibility for employment at a unified labour market;
- Modernisation of programme contents and increase of the acquired knowledge applicability for professional engineering work in the area of geo-technique;
- Providing of higher academic education for work in the related areas: construction, mining, urban planning, spatial planning, ecology;
- Determining of students’ affinities and their further guiding towards scientific-researching work;
- Providing of young professionals and scientists.
Further approach: Degree holder may enrol in doctoral academic studies.
Professional status: M. Sc. in Geology
- The students who have finished this study programme are able to do the following
- Design complex geotechnical research;
- Monitor performing of field research and laboratory examinations;
- Analyse and interpret the results of the performed research and examinations and solve particular problems on the basis of their results;
- Participate in designing, performing and interpretation of geo-technical monitoring results;
- Participate in creating geotechnical bases (for the needs of spatial and urban planning, designing and constructing of high-rise buildings, underground facilities, hydro-technical facilities, facilities of transportation and technical infrastructure with geotechnical analyses of conditions for construction of facilities);
- Participate in making geotechnical bases for the needs of rehabilitation of contemporary geological processes and phenomena: sliding grounds, flowing grounds, landfalls;
- Participate in making geotechnical bases for the needs of exploitation of geological building material deposits;
- Participate in making geotechnical bases for the needs of designing and performing of meliorative works in soil and rock (injecting and drainage systems);
- Perform geotechnical surveillance and control performing of geotechnical works;
- Participate in making geotechnical bases for the needs of environmental protection, including geotechnical bases for the needs of construction, rehabilitation and re-cultivation of waste disposal sites.
