Petroleum Engineering - master academic studies
Conditions for enrolment: Achieved 240 ECTS points at basic academic studies
Study programme objectives:
- Extending of fundamental engineering education in the suitable areas related to:
- Designing and construction of deep oil and gas boreholes,
- Mathematical modelling and simulation of oil and gas deposits,
- Implementing of methods for increasing utilisation of oil and gas deposits,
- Designing and optimisation of exploitation, preparation and transportation of oil and gas,
- Designing and managing of systems for natural gas distribution,
- Designing of natural gas storages, and
- Performing of telemetric and regular supervision of technological processes;
- Acquiring the knowledge necessary for continuing of education at doctoral studies;
- Qualifying for use of contemporary methods, techniques and programme tools;
- Development of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach to solving complex problems of natural, economic, and business processes and systems;
- Development of creative approach to problem considering and of critical thinking;
- Acquiring a high level of knowledge and practical skills in the area of petroleum and gas engineering.
Further approach: A degree holder may enrol in doctoral academic studies.
Professional status: M. Sc. in Mining Engineering
- The students who have successfully finished this study programme are able to do the following in the area of oil and gas engineering:
- Implement the acquired fundamental knowledge in the area of petroleum and gas engineering;
- Implement the knowledge in the areas of natural sciences, general engineering disciplines and specific geological disciplines;
- Understand, define and solve engineering problems;
- Have a comprehensive approach to studying of complex problems of the petroleum and gas exploitation process;
- Use contemporary methods, techniques and programme tools in the engineering practice;
- Work independently or in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate efficiently;
- Work on various jobs related to petroleum and gas economy;
- Own a professional and ethical responsibility of an engineer for exploitation of liquid and gas mineral raw material deposits;
- Understand the impact of engineering solutions on the society and environment through the sustainable development concept;
- Follow a technological development of petroleum and gas engineering and related engineering disciplines.
