Course Objectives:
Ability for stratigraphic research, interpretation and reconstruction of the Tertiary periods in Serbia
Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge on basic and special means, methods and kind of stratigraphic analysis of Tertiary that used in scientific and professional projects.
Content:

Theory teaching
Subject of research. Lithostratigraphy of Tertiary. Continental-lacustrine facies, brackish and marine environments. Paleogeographic map of major depository areas in Serbia. Marker horizons, rhythms, cycles in Tertiary. Biostratigraphic benchmarks in Serbian Tertiary. Paleomagnetic bands in the Tertiary of Serbia. Seismic stratigraphy, seismic signal and sequences in theTertiary of Pannonian Basin of Serbia. Change of sea level, regression and transgression in Tertiary of Serbia. Climatic parameters and oscillations based on the physico-chemical and fossil attributes of sedimentary rocks. Event stratigraphy during the Tertiary. Magnetostratigraphic parameters and chronicostratigraphy of Tertiary. Complex (integrated) stratigraphic research of Tertiary.

Practical teaching
Homework, field exercises and the demonstration classes. Visit to reference geological-geophysical institutions (NIS, Geomagnetic Institute, etc.). Independent research work.
