Course Objectives:
Acquiring knowledge about the basic principles and methods of mining exploration activities, which are important in the research of mineral deposits.
Learning Outcomes:
Learning basic concepts, principles and methods of mining exploration activities of importance for research of mineral deposits.
Content:

Theory teaching
The task and importance of mining exploration works. Surface and underground exploration works. Working environment, trait and classification. Drive energy. Borehole production methods. Impact-turning drilling. Rotational drilling. Basic definitions of explosives and divisions. Initiation systems. Theories of detonation. Calculation of the blasting parameter. Load and haulage works. Technology of making horizontal underground facilities. Technology of making vertical underground facilities. Technology of making incline underground facilities. Technology of underground chamber making.

Practical teaching
At the exercises, students are acquainted with mining and geological symbols, equipment for producing mining boreholes, calculations of the basic influencing factors on drilling speed and blasting parametars. Part of the practices is performed at the school mine om Avala.
