Instructors:
Prof. Predrag Lazić, Dr Đurica Nikšić
Status: Compulsory
ECTS: 6
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
More detailed study of the processes of grinding and classification as an important precondition for concentration
Learning Outcomes:
Engaging in the economy, scientific research or continuation of studies
Content:

Theory teaching
Grinding and classification are the most important and most expensive processes in mineral processing. The most important they are because the grinding decreases the upper limit of minerals and the liberation of the minerals as a prerequisite for successful concentration. The most expensive processes they are because just in these processes consumes the largest amount of electric power.. Classification in fluid air is performed by screening in sieves or in pneumatic classifiers. Water flow classification can be performed on sieves (wet screening), or classification in hydraulic classifiers working in water fluid (mechanical classifier, hydrocyclone). A special type of classification in a heavy media, it is special type of small classes gravitational concentration in a heavy media (turpinson). Within this course, theoretical basis of crushing will be studied: crushing, screening, wet grinding, dry grinding, grading in fluid water, grading in fluid air.

Practical teaching
Experimental, laboratory exercises follow all of the above teaching units: crushing (jaw, cone, impact crusher, crusher with smooth and serrated rollers). Screening laboratory and semi-industrial sieves. Dry and wet grinding in laboratory conditions, classification in mechanical classifier and hydrocyclone. Classification in a hydraulic classifier. Classification in a pneumatic classifier.
