Machine Elements

Study program:
Environmental Engineering (IV semester -BsC)
Mining Engineering (IV semester -BsC)
Petroleum Engineering (IV semester -BsC)
Name of subject: Machine Elements
Instructors:
Prof. Miloš Tanasijević, Prof. Filip Miletić
Status: Compulsory
ECTS: 7
Prerequisites: -
Course Objectives:
Introduction of students with machine elements, as part of the science of machine constructions and as basic elements of mining mechanization. Students learn about methods of calculation, pipe lines elements, elements for joints, power transmision, motion. Teach students to understand function of mechanical systems, applications, variants of design solutions and calculation. Students solve engineering problems in the form of tasks that are posed as real problems from the mining industry
Learning Outcomes:
Active knowledge in the subject area and improvement of engineering methods of thinking of the machine design through the acquiring skills of the ability to determine the basic structural parameters of the machine elements: loads, critical (ultimate) stresses, safety factor, caring capacity, materials, design and dimensions, defining functions. Competence to identify and solve practical problems related to machinery and equipment in the mining industry, primarily from the aspect of maintenance and service.
Content:

Practical teaching
At the exercises, students take two tests in order to check the theoretical knowledge. Students also take five tasks from area of: pipelines, welded joints, screw bolted joints, shafts, rolling bearings. Name of projects are: pipeline for underground mining drainage, welded joints on the steel construction of mining machine, screw bolted joint on oil pipeline flange, gear box shaft, roller on belt conveyor. Through mentioned project tasks, students calculate dimensions, solve the problems of elements selections, checking of safe factor. Technical drawing.

  2. Miloš Tanasijević, Slobodan Ivković, Mašinski elementi, priručnik za vežbe sa izvodom iz teorije, Rudarsko-geološki fakultet, Beograd 2012.
Conduct of the Course:
Theoretical teaching takes place in the form of classical lectures with multimedia support. Practical teaching is characterized by an interactive approach, where the teacher mostly encourages students to independently solve problems. Tasks and examples they works on the base of model from the black board.
