Optimization of Surface Mining Systems

Study program:
Mining Engineering (IV semester -PhD)
Name of subject: Optimization of Surface Mining Systems
Instructors:
Prof. Dejan Stevanović
Status: Optional
ECTS: 10
Prerequisites: Completed course of Transport for Open pit Mines, Surface mining equipment and Surface mining technology
Course Objectives:
The objective of this course is to teach the students about mining systems, principles of system selection and system optimization.
Learning Outcomes:
Successful completion of the course should enable the students to: -Successfully select equipment, -Harmonize the technical and technological parameters of the equipment in the system, -Implement methods for system optimization
Content:

Theory teaching
In theory classes, students will learn about: -Methods for modeling and analysis of continuous mining systems, -Methods for modeling and analysis of discontinuous mining systems, -Methods for modeling and analysis of IPC mining systems -Evaluation of the economic life of equipment, -System capital and operating costs, -System optimization methods, and -Sensitivity analysis.

Practical teaching
Students solve problems related to Surface mining systems in form of individual and group mining project.
