Mechanized Equipment for Sidewise Support of Excavated Space and Underground Facilities

Course Objectives:
Training students for the selection, planning of the use and maintenance of mechanization for the supporting underground roadways and areas.
Learning Outcomes:
Acquisition of professional knowledge in the field of application of mechanization for the supporting underground roadways and ares.
Content:

Theory teaching
Introductory lecture. Classification of machines for the supporting, types. Mechanized hydraulic support (MHS), load capacity, hermetic. The principle of the work of an individual section, the principle of group work. Characteristics of sections MHS (working characteristic and determination). Testing of MHS. Calculation of MHS. Factors that affect the reaction force. Calculation of load. Stability of MHS - Static Stability, MHP Sequence Retention Force, MHS Sequence Sequence Verification. Installation of MHP. Equipment and devices for rockbolting. Principle of work and method of application. Special machines for development of underground roadways, work principle, method of application, structural properties. Capacity calculation. Selection of machines. Special constructions of rotary drills and installation of roofbolts. Accessories for roofbolting. Selection of rockbolting components. Selection of materials and equipment for installation of rockbolts. Procedures for monitoring and testing of rockbolts. Equipment and devices for monitoring the deformation of rockbolts. Monitoring stations with accessories.

Practical teaching
Determination of the performance characteristics of the MHS section. Example of the MHP section calculation. An example of a stability calculation of the MHS section (static stability and section pulling force). Checking the stability of the section. Calculation of the capacity and loading of special machines for development and supporting underground roadways. Selection of machines. Harmonizing the capacity of the machine and the transport system. Selection of elements, materials and equipment for installation of rockbolts.

Conduct of the Course:
Lectures with the support of multimedia presentations. Practical classes include calculation exercises, selection of machines and two colloquiums.
